Arowana Club Event
Xian Leng Farm Visit - Part 3 Final

In Xian Leng's years of experience, top grade arowanas which happen to be exported overseas can be spotted or identified from a size as small as a mere 5 or even 6 inches. This is due to the fact that Xian Leng only produces the off spring from quality brooder stock which is of a top bloodlines.

We proceeded next to a cockroach farm where Xian Leng has about 800 cages of their farm bred roaches. This is one of the diets fed to their prized possessions of arowanas. In view of their arowana health and diets, Xian Leng take a very serious view into it for in Xian Leng, everything from water, food, environment are being researched, controlled and carefully tailored to the needs of the arowanas.

We are given the opportunity to take a look at Xian Leng's Nursery Department. Here is the location where we got to see Xian Leng's top quality arowanas.

Tagging sessions were demonstrated to us in a step by step procedure and once again, there were questions asked regarding the differenced between tagging arowanas on the back and on the stomach. Basically Xian Leng practices tagging arowanas on the stomach cavity area.

With the correct techniques, Xian Leng believes it is much safer to tag arowanas in the stomach. Tagging in the stomach area, does not require removal of scale and also the injuries are kept to the minimal. Basically the fish is ready for sale the next day. Tagging on the back will require the fish to rest for at least 3 days and it might cause a temporary swell in the back which might not be sightly to the customers.

Next is the Koi Pond that we were briefly introduced too. Xian Leng is not just about arowanas, in fact Xian Leng does equally well in other areas of tropical fish business like tropical fishes and kois (Japanese Carp).

As requested by all hobbyist from the Arowana Club and delievered by Xian Leng management, the trip to the farm will not be completed without witnessing the feeding of arowanas.

This time, we were fortunate and lucky to be able to see how the farm manages the diet of their top quality arowanas. Steamed roaches are being fed to their arowanas. The arowanas leap and bound to savour the delicacy of the day. Looking at the feeding, it made us think back and realizes that at Xian Leng, everything is controlled and they do not compromise on quality. Even the roaches they breed themselves.

The farm tour ended just when the rain started to drizzle again but that did not hamper all of us to walk and look around and still learning from the management on the various ways to upkeep our arowanas. However, all things must come to an end and we have an exchange of token of remembrance between Arowana Club and Xian Leng Sdn Bhd.
