CASE STUDY - TREATMENT OF AN AROWANA WITH
SWIMBLADDER PROBLEM

The treatment method mentioned on this article does not represent or imply
in any way the only method of treating arowana's with swimming bladder
problem. This article's treatment method is only one of the many techniques
available.

Arrival in hospital tank. Please note the bad condition, fish is swimming
in 45 degree angle. (14th Oct 02).
Such bacteria attacks is very hard to cure, as with other diseases early
treatment is essential. In this case, treatment is slightly more than
a month.

|
|
Water quality is very important to the success in this treatment. Daily
change of 20% is needed. Maintain at 0.5% salt & a stable pH. Medication:
in water, anti-internal bacteria & fed medications orally.

Notice
the sunken stomach of the fish. (14th Oct 02).

|
|
|
|
Prolong delay of treatment will cause arowana's tail to be dropped.
(14th Oct 02).

|
|
Notice the white substance passed out among the arowana's waste. Shit
with white hard/solid substances passed out after 1st treatment.
|
|
|
One of the symptoms: frequent gulping of air at the surface
of the water.
Other early symptom include passing air in the form of fine bubbles
from the anus frequently.

Preparation of medication and treatment process |

In this case, dried shrimps & frogs are used.
|
|
|
Using a syringe, medication are prepared.
It is then injected into the dried shrimps. |
